Poor acoustics and isolation leads to high noise levels that impede concentration, disrupt communication, and negatively impacts overall student performance. Learning spaces should provide satisfactory speech perception and clear speech communication. Low noise levels reduce distraction, disturbance, stress, listening strain, and voice fatigue to both students and teachers. This can be particularly challenging in woodshop rooms, labs, and robotics/maker spaces where loud machinery is common. By ensuring optimal conditions, educational institutions can create an environment in which both teachers and students can thrive.
